This long-standing organization continues its tradition of fun, fellowship, and philanthropy as it gears up for one of the region’s most exciting charitable events.
A Legacy as Old as Time
Established in the prehistoric days by our cavemen predecessors back 'when we used to hunt the mighty water buffalo' , Lodge #26 has stood the test of time (and multiple ice ages) as a beacon of camaraderie and service. Though originally formed to promote neighborly gatherings (and mammoth hunting tips), today the lodge focuses on supporting community initiatives, all while preserving its signature blend of exlusivity and tradition.
About the 2025 Polar Plunge
The 2025 Myrtle Beach Polar Plunge will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the Sands Ocean Club, 9550 Shore Drive, Myrtle Beach. This chillingly delightful event raises crucial funds for Special Olympics South Carolina, benefiting over 30,000 athletes with intellectual or physical disabilities.
The plunge-day schedule begins at 10:00 AM with on-site registration and lively pre-plunge activities, including a costume contest for the most creatively dressed plungers. At noon, participants will brave the icy Atlantic, proving their commitment to the cause.
For a $50 minimum donation, participants receive a commemorative 20th Anniversary T-shirt. Additional incentives include prizes for top fundraisers and exciting merchandise. Whether you’re diving in or cheering from the shore, this event is all about having fun while making a difference

Joining the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes Lodge #26 means becoming part of a timeless brotherhood dedicated to fellowship and giving back. Membership includes access to exclusive events, including lodge socials, events, and the Polar Plunge team. New member applications will be accepted through January 2025, just in time to dive into the lodge’s 2025 team.

For those not ready to take the icy plunge, donations and cheers from the crowd are equally appreciated. Proceeds directly benefit Special Olympics programs across South Carolina.
