Innova Discs Myrtle Beach Open wraps up in Myrtle Beach

The 2024 Innova Myrtle Beach Open, held from November 1-3, took place at two iconic courses: Splinter City Disc Golf Course and Socastee Recreation Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This A-tier, PDGA-sanctioned event attracted top-tier professionals and competitive amateurs alike, solidifying its reputation as a "can’t miss" event for disc golfers across the Southeast.

In the tournament, players faced challenging layouts at both courses, which tested their full range of skills. The Open Division (MPO) saw several notable competitors, with strong performances from players such as Nathan Queen, Paul Ulibarri, and Cale Leiviska. The Women’s Pro Open (FPO) division was also competitive, with standout players like Paige Shue and Deann Carey in attendance.

With a capacity of 316 players, the event offered cash prizes for professionals and trophy awards for amateurs, along with unique player packs for participants. The Myrtle Beach Open has grown in prominence and continues to attract a diverse field from across the U.S., giving Myrtle Beach a distinct spot on the professional disc golf map.

This A-tier event drew professional and amateur players from across the country. The tournament was structured with various tee layouts to accommodate different divisions, including a unique "Throw Pink" layout for the FPO and select masters' categories.

Joel Freeman emerged victorious in the MPO (Men’s Pro Open) division with a solid lead after three rounds, ending with a final score of 146. Wyatt Mahoney and Ezra Robinson tied for second place, both scoring 148. In FPO (Women’s Pro Open), Holyn Handley and Missy Gannon competed strongly, with Holyn Handley ultimately securing the win after three competitive rounds.

The Myrtle Beach Open has become a favorite among disc golf enthusiasts, featuring added cash for the professional field and a week-long celebration of disc golf along the Carolina coast. The event not only tests competitors with challenging layouts but also offers a memorable experience for fans, with limited media coverage and a beachside setting.
